THE Westbury U3A group were treated to a talk on kinesiology at their July meeting.
Group member Carol Peacock said, “It was given by one of the group members, Allan Oakman, a trim and spritely man in his 70’s who has practised yoga for over 50 years, cycles 200 miles each month and is passionate about health.
“As well as being a kinesiology instructor, Allan has also studied hypnotherapy and osteopathy. He used complementary medicine to cure himself of a medically incurable auto-immune condition, and now takes no medication – only herbs and supplements.
“He believes our health and well-being are down to us; as he says, “Our doctors are there to help us take responsibility for our health, not abdicate it.”
“Kinesiology is based on the understanding that our overall well-being is dependent on the balanced flow of ‘Bio-Energy’ in our system and it is disruption in the flow that is thought to be at the root of all disturbances in our lives, whether these manifest physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually.
“Correspondingly, when our life energy is flowing freely in a balanced and harmonious way, we come into alignment with our true nature and can then experience natural well-being, vitality, and equilibrium.
“Allan demonstrated the effect of the disruption of the energy flow with the aid of several volunteers, who were amazed at the change he could bring about in their muscle strength.
“Judging by the crowd of people clamouring for his attention at the end of the meeting, Allan could find it difficult to remain retired!”
