Westbury striker Simon Millard scored four goals for the second home match in a row as Westbury cut Cheddar to shreds after going behind.
This was a very open and entertaining game and showed how much Adam Collington’s team believe in themselves.
After chances went begging at both ends early in the game Sam Jones put Cheddar ahead on 21 minutes with a good finish after being set up by Danny Griffiths who had run unchallenged from his own half. United drew level on 25 when Adam Collington’s direct ball led to Millard nodding past visiting keeper Kieran Webster and the hosts took the lead in bizarre circumstances a few minutes later; Adam Bishop’s free kick from the halfway line eluded everybody and went in!
Another Bishop set piece led to the next goal just before half time, this time Kevin Shinn headed the ball on to Millard and he again nodded it past Webster. Millard completed his hattrick just after half time with a superb lob and Matt Mead made it 5-1 on 54 with a smart finish on the rebound after Webster had saved a Shinn effort at a corner.
Cheddar got a goal back through Robbi Maggs from the penalty spot on the hour after Marc Scammell had fouled Jones. Briefly Cheddar threatened a comeback with chances wasted by Matt Connick and Jones, but Millard wasn’t to be outdone as he took advantage of slack defending to complete the scoring late on.
