WESTBURY United have confirmed that their captain, Dan Price, has signed a new contract with the club. Dan will be leading the team as they make their debut in the Southern League for the coming season which starts next month.
As captain, Dan has led the club to two promotions in three seasons, and he has helped United to their highest ever finish in the club’s 102-year history.
Dan said, “Signing on the dotted line wasn’t a hard decision after hearing how the club are pushing forward. I am very happy to be captaining the team into the Southern League. This is the first time in the club’s history that we will be in the Southern League, so this will be a special season for myself. I have never played with a better bunch of lads and can’t wait for the season to start!”
Joint managers of the club, Ricky Hulbert and Lewis Porter said in a statement, “Pricey is a great man on and off the pitch so getting him committed and signed for the season has been a top priority for us over the off season.
“We couldn’t be happier that we have finally got it all sorted. Pricey has turned down very lucrative offers from clubs in leagues below which goes to show his fantastic commitment to the club and what we want to achieve moving into the Southern League. He has proved himself to be one of, if not the best centre half at Step 5 and we are both convinced he will do the same in Step 4.”
Club chairman, Sam Gooding added, “Dan is a huge part of Westbury United FCand it was important to demonstrate to Dan how valued he is by the management and club. We are looking forward to seeing Dan lead us into our first season in the Southern League.”
