Westbury United have expressed their gratitude to the local community after receiving an outpouring of financial support in response to the football club’s recent financial difficulties.
Following an appeal in the last edition of the Westbury Horse News, a Supporters Trust Fund and a JustGiving page were set up to help raise much-needed funds. To date, nearly £8,000 has been raised, with more pledges and support expected in the coming weeks.
Due to financial constraints, the club has been playing their home fixtures at Frome Town’s ground but the club is working hard to see a return to Westbury as soon as possible.
“In the last edition of the WHN we outlined the current financial difficulties we are experiencing,” said the club. “As a result, we set up a Supporters Trust Fund for individuals and companies who would like to loan or donate larger amounts and a JustGiving page where any contribution is much appreciated. To date we have received almost £8,000 and we are also aware of more pledges and support to come.
“The trustees, committee members and managers would like to say a big thank you to all those who have donated and really appreciate the support we have received.
“We have to say a big thank you to Frome Town for allowing us to play our home games there and really appreciate the support they have given us during this difficult period. However, we are working hard to get us playing football back at Platinum Hyundai Park, Meadow Lane as soon as possible.
“We know it is difficult for some supporters to travel to Frome, and we apologise to those who are missing their football, but hopefully not for much longer. We really appreciate the supporters who have been able to travel and watch the games at Frome and apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
“One positive that has come out of this difficult situation is the commitment and support from our sponsors, supporters, management and players which we hope will only make the club stronger in the future.”

“Finally, please keep an eye on Facebook and other press releases regarding our hopeful return to Platinum Hyundai Park, Meadow Lane. Thank you again to everyone,” added the club.
