Westbury Youth Club closed in March 2019, which was a great loss to the town.
Unfortunately there was no availability to use an alternative venue within Westbury however, after working alongside Funways, it was agreed that a new youth club combining Westbury and Warminster would launch in September 2019.
We have been running for three months and have a team of dedicated volunteers. With the help of these volunteers and a grant from both Westbury and Warminster area boards, we have been able to offer a range of activities during the sessions from slime making, to a Halloween party and laser tag. We have also worked closely with Youth Action Wiltshire, offering day trips to Brookesrwood and Oxenwood.
Over the last three months, we have had our first accredited young leader, Ashton Maslin, who is from Westbury. He has worked alongside Youth Action Wiltshire to gain this qualification. He is not only a young leader for the club, but he is also a young leader of Youth Action Wiltshire, working with them and other young leaders across Wiltshire.
Our ambition for next year is to continue to build on our membership and young leader numbers. We will continue to offer day trips and a range of activities during sessions. We have the aim and will continually work towards growing and helping as many young people as we can.
We run every Thursday during term time 6-7.30pm entrance fee is just £2 and there is a mini bus available to take anyone from Westbury who would like to attend.
