Westbury Youth Football Club saw 140 teams from Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire and beyond participate in their annual summer tournament.
In the club’s 25th year the tournament was played for the first time at the club’s home pitches at Redland Lane. Matches started in the evening of Friday 22nd June and the tournament closed late afternoon on Sunday 24th June.
During a scorching weekend, around 1,000 players from 140 teams made up of boys and girls from U7s to U15s teams participated.
The Westbury Youth FC chairman, Aaron Whiting said, “After months of preparation it has been proven that the club can stage a large tournament successfully with approximately 2,000 spectators, visiting coaches and players attending.
“This could not have happened without club volunteer coaches, managers, committee members and associates of the club committing the whole weekend and preparation time before and after the tournament. Special thanks must also be given to all of our tournament sponsors, particularly the Co-op, Quality Vans, Total Air Systems, Western Skip Hire and Trowbridge Scaffolding.”
Westbury Youth FC sponsorship for the 2018/2019 season is also available. Interested parties that wish to sponsor the tournament should contact chairman@westbury youth.co.uk.
