The local Westbury based Morris group White Horse Morris celebrated their 70-year anniversary recently.
This remarkable milestone was commemorated on 11th September by dancing at The Bell, Wylye, The Red Lion, Heytesbury and finally at the village hall in Sutton Veny, where a party was held.
Mike Perry, squire for White Horse Morris spoke about this prestigious anniversary, “70 years, in 1951, ago a group of young men from Westbury, Warminster, Stoford and even Little Cheveril came together to form the then White Horse Morris Men.”
“Members, old and new, came together for this celebration, many not having seen each other for decades!”
“The group danced, played and sang late into the night with the Prosecco, beer, wine and food flowing. Celebratory cakes were made, admired and eaten!”
“Despite our Covid-19 years, White Horse Morris continues to go from strength to strength but always welcomes new members to its practices in Wylye Village Hall on Wednesday evenings. It’s great fun, you get to meet new and interesting people and get fit! Come and join us.”
