AT the Mayor’s Civic Grants and Awards Dinner recently, representatives from the White Horse News were surprised to find that the newspaper had been awarded a town Civic Award, which was presented by the Mayor of Westbury, cllr Sheila Kimmins.
Co-owners, Ian and Susan Drew received the award on the night.
They said, “Over the years, we have been invited to the awards evening to record worthy people and groups in Westbury who are granted Civic Awards – but we never thought that the White Horse News would be honoured – it was such a shock!
“All members of our team would like to thank the mayor and town council for giving us the award. We are a family-run business and we couldn’t produce the White Horse News without our team – and all our staff who have made it possible over the years, including everyone from all our office staff, to van drivers and our brilliant team of deliverers, who are out on the streets in all weathers, making sure you are able to read about what’s happening in Westbury and surrounding villages.
“Thank you also to all the advertisers who have supported us over the years and made our newspaper possible.”
For over 30 years, the free fortnightly newspaper has been distributed throughout Westbury, bringing a variety of important issues and community news which affects local people who live and work in the town.
