Cricket fans in Westbury are in for a treat as Wiltshire County Cricket Club returns to Westbury & District Cricket Club this Sunday, 6th July.
The team will face Dorset in a thrilling double-header of T20 matches, with the first match starting at 11am and the second at approximately 2.30pm, following a short break between games.
“This marks a significant moment for cricket in the town, as Wiltshire CCC returns to play at Leighton Sports Centre, Westbury’s home ground,” said Westbury & District CC chairman, Steve Edwards. “The occasion promises to be a fantastic day of top-level National Counties cricket.
“It’s a privilege to be able to host county cricket at Leighton again this season. The fast-paced T20 game is one of the most popular formats of the game and to have two back-to-back games will provide fun and excitement for all, not to mention giving the junior members of the town something to aspire to. Refreshments will be available from the bar all day so bring a chair and enjoy this free entertaining cricket.”
Entry to the matches is completely free with plenty of parking available at the ground.
Wiltshire CCC chairman, John Collins, said, “We’re thrilled to be bringing county cricket back to Westbury. It’s a great ground with a superb cricket wicket, and we’re looking forward to a brilliant day of cricket. We hope the community comes out to support the team and enjoy what promises to be an entertaining day.”
