Are you looking to meet new people as well as help others in your community?
Then Volunteer Centre Wiltshire can help. Whether you’ve got a few hours a month or a day a week, there’s a volunteering opportunity out there to suit you. One volunteer said, “Volunteering enabled me do something worthwhile in the community, to get out, meet people and to keep my body and mind active”
Here are just a few opportunities within your area:
“Website Support Volunteer: Friends of Biss Meadows are looking for a website support volunteer to support and develop the Friends’ website so that we engage with our members, inform the public, attract new members, and so they can make a good impression when applying for grants!
“Activities & Social Volunteer: The Orders of St John Care Trust are looking for caring individuals who would like to contribute in enhancing the lives of the residents. Volunteers can assist with group activities, helping with outings, lending a hand at mealtimes, running a trolley or help fundraise.
“Get Wiltshire Walking: Wiltshire Council has a local walking project to encourage people to take more physical activity and as walking is the lowest risk activity, they are working towards providing a free weekly led walk in all areas of the county so all Wiltshire residents can access this service. Following training, volunteers will work alongside an experienced leader until they feel confident enough to lead a walk of their own.
“Volunteers Week 2014: Volunteers Week is celebrated across the UK from 1st-7th June. Volunteers Week is the one campaign which unites small grass roots organisations to large national charities. Why? Because they couldn’t exist without volunteers! During Volunteers Week hundreds of events will be taking place across the country to say thank you to volunteers, recognising the important contribution they make. “We also have details of various gardening, environmental, befriending, mentoring, administration, IT and many other roles.
