WESTBURY Town Council has presented £12,000 worth of grants to local organisations.
46 groups attended the awards presentation event to receive their cheques from the Mayor of Westbury, cllr David Windess, at the Laverton on Wednesday 26th January.
“It was an honour to give the grants to all those organisations that provide such a good service to the people of Westbury,” said cllr Windess.
“A lot of the people involved in these organisations give up a lot of their time for no other reason than the community spirit that they have, and it’s good to see that Westbury still obviously has a lot of community spirit, and I would like to thank all those people that give up their time for the benefit of others.”
The groups applied for a grant from the town council at the end of last year. Town clerk Keith Harvey explained, “The criteria stated that each group has to provide a benefit and service to Westbury community.”
Each charity spokesperson gave thanks to Westbury Town Council for the donation and explained what the money will be used for and how the people of Westbury will benefit.
