100 RUNNERS took part in the tenth annual Imber Ultra Marathon which started and finished at the Leighton Recreation Centre on Sunday 3rd March.
The event, which is a collaboration between Avon Valley Runners and the Rotary Club of Westbury, saw runners take on a multi-terrain route of approximately 33 miles across the Imber Range perimeter path.
The Rotary Club of Westbury says, “Exactly 100 runners started, seven dropped out and we had 93 over the line.
“The race was strongly contested by the front runners with the winning male finishing in 4 hours 23 minutes and the first lady runner in 5 hours 37 minutes.
“A special mention must be given to Steve Nuttal – he is a long standing member of the Westbury Running Group and celebrated his tenth finish in a very respectable 7 hours 55 minutes.
“The race was started by the Westbury Town Crier and the prizes were presented by the mayor and the mayoress. The event was sponsored by Myddelton Major (chartered surveyors), Westbury Ford, Gooding Accounts, Parham Physiotherapy and the South West Hearing Care. Lidl’s of Westbury supplied, as usual, fruit and chocolate bars for the runners.”
