Children’s choir to launch in Edington

A FREE choir aimed at young people aged between seven and 12 is launching in Edington. 

The Young Edington Singers will meet every Thursday from 17th September, with sessions running from 6pm until 7pm at Edington Priory Church.  

The group will provide children with the opportunity to learn music and skills, gain confidence performing in public, and socialise and make friends. 

Choir leader Andrew King said, “I know how much enjoyment singing in choirs can bring. I joined a local children’s choir when I was seven and then joined a church choir when I was eight. These were the starting points for a lifelong love of singing, which has seen me participate in over 30 recordings, travel to Europe, America and even China on singing tours and perform in many of the most famous concert halls in the world. 

“Choirs are not just about singing; they also bring a social life. Many of the friends I have today I met through singing. The bond between singers in a choir is strong and lasting.” 

The free group is aimed at primary school children, but older children and siblings may be considered.
