Over £6,000 has been handed out to projects which support the local community in Westbury by Wiltshire Council’s Area Board.
The grants that were awarded at last month’s Area Board meeting were:
• £250 for the Westbury Area Network for their Warm Parcels Scheme. Each warm parcel would include such items as hot water bottle, blanket/throw/quilt, hat, mittens/gloves, scarf, door draught excluder and reusable hand warmers.
• £2,500 towards the Leigh Park Community Centre project to develop opportunities for young people to access programmes that develop their practical and social skills, provide further educational attainment, open doors and support careers and opportunities and engage them as full members of their community.
• £708.05 to the Westbury Community Project for Warm Spaces entertainment at the Hub on Eden Vale Road. They want to supplement their warm spaces by showing films and need to purchase a one-off licence.
• £3,000 for the next year’s work of 4 Youth, including counselling support for young people at a venue in Westbury.
