A PUB in Dilton Marsh raised over £1,600 for charity last month with a fun day in memory of a local man who died earlier this year.
On Saturday, 17th September, The Prince of Wales held a big charity event in memory of Stuart Lange to raise money for The April Jones Trust.
Stuart, a regular at the pub, was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident on the evening of 1st July this year.
Started by landlord Stephen Greatwood, Dan Hillman, and village vicar, Steve Jarvis, the event had live music from Outline, The Full Motley and Brakelight, as well as a raffle and children’s activities.
Organiser Stephen Greatwood said, “Myself, my staff and my loyal customers really needed to do this to show their appreciation for the wonderful, selfless guy Stuart was. He lightened up the room every time he walked in and was a true friend to so many.”
The day raised a total of £1,679.20 for the April Jones Trust which raises money for disadvantaged children and which Stuart had raised money for in the past.
The charity was set up by Coral and Paul Jones, the parents of Welsh girl April who was murdered in 2012, aged five. Coral and Paul travelled from Wales to attend the fun day.
Another organiser Kelly Brimble said, “Thank you to everyone who came and supported a great cause, it was an amazing day. Stu would have loved it!
“All the organisers want to express their sincere thanks for everyone who generously gave their time and donations – including the people and businesses who donated the 70 raffle prizes – to make the event such a success.”
