LAST month, Westbury Leigh Primary School held Judo taster sessions for years 2 β 6.
All of the pupils who attended took part in a 50 minute session where they looked at breakfalls and pinning.
PE coordinator Luke Oakes said, βThe feedback we received from all classes was that the pupils really enjoyed their sessions. The coach from Active Trowbridge was fantastic and it was a great introduction to judo for them.β
The sessions were organised in response to the governmentβs push to make school children more active.
Luke added, βWe are really pushing for our pupils to attend Southwick Parkrun on Saturday mornings and the incentive of one-off sports days was used as a motivation for them. These sessions took place as a reward for pupils accounting for 25 park runs last term.β
