A LOCAL councillor is campaigning for a pathway to be installed on a busy road in The Ham.
Councillor David Jenkins says, “A footpath is needed at the end of the existing footpath opposite the Ham Cottages as once you leave the existing footpath, you have to try to walk along a grass verge through nettles with tall grass, and on ground that is uneven and is close to the road. This presents a hazardous situation.
“The Ham is a busy road with a whole range of vehicles regularly using it including HGVs and buses which exit from Hawkeridge Road to a stop which is on the grass verge.
“By having the footpath extended, other than the obviously viewable trodden grass, it would make it easer and safer for the community to use. As there are a whole range of residents who frequently use this path on a regular basis from mothers, children and the elderly, I will be contacting Wiltshire and town councils to pursue this matter.”
