The work of Westbury’s town rangers has been highlighted during a visit by Wiltshire’s High Sheriff.
Dr Alexander Goodwin met Westbury Town Council’s ranger team to learn about their work improving the town’s green spaces and supporting local wildlife.
The visit followed a conversation with the town clerk at the council’s Civic Service in early October, when Dr Goodwin expressed an interest in finding out more about the team’s work.
The rangers carry out planting projects, create orchards and undertake conservation work to encourage wildlife and improve the natural environment.
High Sheriffs are appointed annually by the King and act as the Crown’s representatives in their county.
Dr Goodwin said, “The privilege I have is representing the King and coming out to see all the good work done by the people of Wiltshire and visiting the Westbury rangers today to see how they enhance green spaces and make it a much better environment for those that live in Westbury to enjoy being outside.”
