A COMMUNITY Fun Day, organised by Westbury Churches Together, was a great success despite the wet weather.
Sharon Jones said, “It was held in Westbury Methodist Church because of the damp weather, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for this free event. The bouncy castle was set up in front of the altar and various groups set up their activities around the edge of the church. Refreshments were served in the foyer and games and face painting were on offer.
The event was well supported by community groups from the towns. Sellwood Housing, St John Ambulance cadets, Brownies and Rainbows, Westbury Family History Society, Crosspoint, Messy Church and Blaze Bright toddler group all contributed activities
“Rev Graham Warmington organised the event, supported by helpers from other churches in the town.
“I have no idea how many people attended the event but it seemed very busy. My daughter Eleanor had travelled from Southampton to help me with the face painting and we painted 66 designs. Everyone who came along really appreciated this event and it was great to be able to bring some joy to a rainy afternoon.
“We’d like to thank everyone who donated their time and contributed cakes and other resources.”
