Westbury Library has now reopened following repairs to its damaged roof caused by storm Eleanor.
During the storm, wind speeds of up to 90mph were experienced in some parts of the UK.
Due to the damaged roof, the library was forced to close on Thursday 4th January to ensure customer safety, leaving the town short of its facilities that many use on a daily basis.
Wiltshire Council issued a statement of apology for the inconvenience and sought to review the incident on Monday 8th January.
After repair works were carried out to the damaged roof, the library was due to be reopened on Thursday 11th January, one week after the damage. However, Wiltshire Council said there were health and safety concerns as the scaffolding was still in place, so the library remained closed.
Finally, on Friday 12th January, the scaffolding was removed and news was broken that the library would be reopened for business as usual on Saturday 13th January.
Wiltshire Council has issued a statement saying, “If you had library items due back at Westbury during the closure, you will have extra time added to your loans. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
