LOCAL travel company, Keeva Travel have raised
£560 for Comic Relief from a 390 mile static bike ride, cycling the distance from Westbury to Paris.
Company directors, Rory and Beneditta McManus, alongside business development managers Lucy Parker and Grant Truckle, and travel consultant Jodie Wilkins, took on the challenge to cycle the distance from Westbury to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Business development manager, Lucy Parker said, “As a team we’re really passionate about giving back both in our local community and further afield, and the four main causes which Comic Relief raises money for really resonate with us.
“Comic Relief aims to provide safe places to live for people worldwide, with a particular focus on helping children to survive and thrive, and as most of us are parents ourselves we wanted to do all we could to help other families who aren’t as fortunate as us to give their children the best possible start.
“They also use funds to provide services promoting positive mental health, which is something we can all relate to and benefit from. Finally, Comic Relief is committed to addressing gender inequality worldwide, and as a team made up of 50% women with our directors’ 19 month old daughter Keeva as our figurehead, this is something we are fully behind.
“The challenge took 5 days – we’d covered nearly 100 miles by day one but we did so much that the bike broke and was out of action all day on Tuesday!
“It was hard work, particularly as we were still trying to work at the same time. We had to be creative with balancing our laptop so we could still answer the phone and continue with our enquiries. We all had very sore legs and bottoms by the end of the week.
“Grant and Jodie are currently on well earned breaks in Dubai and Switzerland, but the rest of us are straight back to work. We did have a well earned McDonald’s afterwards though!”
