THE land north of Mill Lane, Westbury, could be transformed into a new storage and distribution facility. PMK Consult has submitted a planning application for a new 7,697m², 15m high facility directly opposite the West Wilts Trading Estate.
The proposed development will provide a new warehouse with ancillary office, alongside associated landscaping, parking, operational vehicle storage and other ancillary works.
A PMK spokesperson said, “If approved, work will start quickly to deliver the new facility so that the area can realise the economic benefits as soon as possible. The site construction and, when complete, the new facility will create new job opportunities. We will introduce measures to respect local ecology and to protect and enhance local wildlife, retain as many trees as possible, and plant new native species.”
The land north of Mill Lane was allocated for employment use in the Wiltshire Core Strategy and received planning approval for employment use in 2014, but a suitable candidate had not been found.
On their Mill Lane development website, PMK say, “The site was granted outline planning consent in 2014, however, development has been slow to come forward. PMK’s plans for the site would deliver a high-quality scheme that, if approved, will be able to start work on quickly.
“Along with the plans, a number of technical reports will be submitted as part of the application in order to ensure that the potential impact on areas such as transport, ecology, noise and heritage is minimised where possible.”
PMK also say “The site is ideally located, being across the road from the West Wilts Trading Estate and a short distance from nearby transport links including the A350, M4 and A303 further south. The proposals will deliver a high-quality development, creating new jobs and providing a boost to the local economy.”
