A DEVELOPER has started work to transform a centuries-old former Lopes Arms hotel in the Westbury Market Place into three new homes. Lily Designs Ltd hope to deliver a ‘legacy development’ for the Westbury town centre with the conversion of the Grade II listed building, and they are expecting to complete the work by next year.

David Thorne, Development Director of Hedge Hunter Group said, “Lily Designs Ltd have commenced the refurbishment and conversion of the above redundant Grade II hotel that has sat dormant for five years.
“Following the grant of planning permission in 2021 for three dwellings Lily Designs Ltd acting on behalf of the Hedge Hunter Group have started the delicate and sympathetic refurbishment with Core Construction acting as our contractors.
“The scheme offers private gated parking and private gardens being designed with ecology encouragement at its foundation.
“We are delighted to have worked constructively with Wiltshire Council planning and conservation departments and hope to deliver a legacy development for Westbury town centre.
The development will be due for launch spring 2023. We hope to release further information over the next few months.”
The Grade 2 listed building was named after Sir Manasseh Masseh Lopes who bought the manor and borough of Westbury in 1810.
