MANOR School pupils have spent a week being scientists as the team from the The Festival of Tomorrow visited the school.
A number of workshops and activities were organised for pupils to learn about science with topics including bubbles, constructing electrical circuits, the digestive system and renewable and solar power energy.
At the end of the week an Explorer Dome was constructed in the school hall for children to learn about space and light.
The school’s science lead Miss King said, “It was great to see how enthusiastic the children were during the workshops and their excitement to get involved.”
The Manor School’s newly appointed principal Michael Park added, “We want the children at The Manor to have a curriculum which inspires them to learn and provides exciting and memorable experiences. Our science week has helped them to appreciate the importance of science. The children had lots of fun learning all about science and gaining new skills!”
The Festival of Tomorrow, based in Swindon, is an exploration of the wonders of science, innovation and the arts and aims to share new discoveries and technologies. It launched its first school programme in February of 2021 and received over 13,000 student bookings. The programme is available to book for Swindon and White Horse Federation schools.
