Following last year’s triumphant open-air performance of Romeo and Juliet, the gardens of Heywood House once again set the stage for an evening of theatrical delight – this time with a seafaring twist.
On Friday 6th September, the award-winning touring company Illyria brings Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera HMS Pinafore to life under the open sky. Renowned for their energetic, witty productions, Illyria promises a fast-paced, laugh-filled evening; expect maritime mishaps, topsy-turvy romance and plenty of patter as sailors, sweethearts and social satire take to the lawn.
Audiences are invited to bring their own rugs, chairs and picnics and enjoy an afternoon of nautical nonsense in the glorious Wiltshire countryside. A limited number of cream teas are available to pre-order via the Heywood House website – the perfect accompaniment to a summer’s day afloat on a sea of song and satire.
Tickets and further information are available by calling the Box Office on 01373 486800 or visiting www.heywoodhouse.com/news/whats-on. Gates open at 3pm, with the performance beginning at 5pm.
“Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a landlubber new to the joys of G&S, this promises to be an afternoon “hardly ever” to forget!” say the organisers.
