On Sunday 14th June, 10 members of Westbury Walkers set out from Chapmanslade in ideal walking weather for a nine-mile walk.
The first part of the walk passed through a small part of Black Dog Woods, then on through Berkley Woods and Ridge Copse. From Rooks Lane, Berkley, the route followed the old Clink Road where a drinks stop was made. Skirting the Berkley Down area of Frome, the group then made their way on to Rodden.
Lunch was taken in Rodden churchyard – a lovely setting overlooking Rodden Brook. Continuing through meadows and passing several farms, the walkers reached Corsley Mill. They passed through a small copse and on to Lyes Green, passing the now closed Cross Keys pub, the route ascended The Hollow and the walkers took a breather in Corsley playing fields.
Crossing several fields, the walkers reached Corsley church, manor and rectory, from where they made their way back into Chapmanslade.
