Members of All Saints’ Church will be hosting tower tours at the church on Saturday 21st September.
Visitors will have the chance to climb 106 steps to the rooftop of All Saints’ Church and enjoy views over Westbury and the White Horse.
Members of the bell-ringing team will be on hand to talk about the eight bells in the tower, which make up the third heaviest peal in the world. Visitors can also see the workings of the 17th-century chiming clock.
Rector Revd Rebecca Harris said, “We are always pleased to be able to welcome visitors into our church. We hope lots of people will come along to take advantage of this rare opportunity to explore the tower and enjoy the views from the roof. The funds raised through this event will be very welcome as the additional cost of the repairs to the roof after the lead left last year has put a strain on our finances.”
“The tower will be open during Westbury’s famous Chilli Festival which is taking place on the same day. Why not pop in and enjoy the view while you are in town?”
Entry to the tower is £3 per adult and £1 per child. Doors will open at 1:45pm, with the last tour at 4:30pm. All proceeds will go towards the church’s work and the upkeep of the building.
All Saints’ Church is located between the Market Place and the library, accessible from Church Street, Market Place, or Edward Street. Parking is available in the High Street Car Park.
