Westbury will come together on Sunday 8th November for its annual Remembrance Service, paying tribute to those who have served and lost their lives in conflicts past and present.
The traditional parade will assemble in the High Street car park before making its way to the War Memorial in Westbury High Street.
Residents are invited to join dignitaries, veterans and cadets at the War Memorial for the service at 10.55am.
The service will follow traditional Remembrance Sunday proceedings, including the Act of Remembrance, a two-minute silence and the laying of wreaths, in accordance with Royal British Legion traditions.
This year, Lady Lansdowne, Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, and the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Wiltshire will join the town in paying their respects.
“Westbury Town Council warmly invites residents of all ages to attend, reflect and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as recognising the service and dedication of our Armed Forces, past and present,” said a town council spokesperson.
Those appointed to lay a wreath are asked to assemble in the designated, signed area at the junction of Edward Street and High Street.
To ensure the safe delivery of the parade and service, Westbury High Street will be closed to vehicles between 9am and 1pm.
Visitors are encouraged to allow additional time for their journeys and use town centre parking at the rear of the High Street.
