A fundraising skittles competition held in memory of a local woman has raised £1,667 for an ovarian cancer charity.
Over 150 supporters attended the event at Dilton Marsh Social Club on Saturday 24th October to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Action, a charity funding research aimed at improving survival rates.
The fundraiser honoured Sue Pearce, who died from the disease in March 2006, aged 52.
Her family and friends have organised the annual competition since 2008.
This year, 42 women took part, playing three legs each. Helen Jones was declared the winner, with Michelle Jones taking second place after a play-off and organiser Debbie Pepler coming third.
“We had a very fun and successful evening,” Debbie said. “This is a big event, but it’s more than just organising an activity or raising funds. It’s seeing people connect and share stories and memories of Sue and contribute in their own way to a fun night raising money for a great cause.”
