Westbury Police are currently investigating a spate of Criminal Damage in Westbury, where damage has been caused to the High Street Bus Shelter, the Barclays Bank on the High Street and a traffic island bollard on Haines Road.
This occurred in the early hours of the morning on Friday 15th August. Several CCTV cameras within the town have captured the incident which clearly shows mindless damage being caused to council and business property, for which the footage is currently being analysed by police to identify the offenders.
This sort of mindless damage is costing the residents of Westbury money every time it occurs, and this is just one of several incidents that have taken place this year.
PC Gavin Hucks, community beat manager for Westbury, who is heading up the investigation, has viewed the footage and is appalled by the total lack of respect displayed by the offenders for the town. He said, “The footage is good from an evidential perspective, and it is only a matter of time before these individuals are brought to justice and held accountable for their actions.
“As the investigation is in its early stages, I hope that the individuals themselves have a conscience and take the moral high ground to come forward, so that this can be dealt with swiftly. This is no way to behave in Westbury, or any town in fact!”
