Residents can recycle real Christmas trees by placing them at the kerbside alongside garden waste bins, or at their normal collection points.
Collections will take place on scheduled collection days until the end of January. People are being asked to cut Christmas trees over six feet tall into manageable pieces.
Alternatively residents can recycle Christmas trees at any of Wiltshire’s 11 Household Recycling Centres (HRCs).
All HRCs are open during normal winter opening hours, 9am–4pm, Monday to Sunday apart from Salisbury which is open 9am–6pm Monday-Sunday. More information is available at www.recycleforwiltshire.com.
Waste and recycling collection days have changed as no collections took place on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. People can check their revised collection dates and print off their waste calendar at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/rubbishcollectioncalendar. Normal collections will resume from Monday 19th January.
Toby Sturgis, cabinet member for waste services said, “The kerbside collection of garden waste means it is now easy for residents to recycle their real Christmas trees. It’s important to dispose of your Christmas tree responsibly. Real Christmas trees collected through the kerbside collection and at Household Recycling Centres will be processed into compost, which will avoid them being put into landfill.”
