ANOTHER of the flags in the town centre has been cut down; the third flag to be vandalised in just five months.
The flag was maliciously cut down with a sharp implement, and CCTV in the area is now being checked in the hope that the culprit can be identified.
It is the third flag in the central rotunda to be vandalised in the last five months. In June, the flag of St George was raised to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday and to support England in the World Cup. After the flag was stolen, a replacement was donated by Dorothy House Hospice, but this one also disappeared.
Westbury Town Council is currently looking at relocating the flags to behind the war memorial, where they can be flown on upright poles, keeping them out of reach of vandals.
