Located on historic Maristow Street is Cosí, a new independent café and restaurant, offering a friendly welcome and a new dining experience in Westbury.
Opened in July by owner Gemma Sainsbury, Cosí is open seven-days a week, serving a ‘typically British’ menu, which includes cooked breakfasts, an array of hot and cold lunch options – all cooked to order using fresh ingredients – and a selection of cakes, beverages and cream teas.
Recently Cosí has expanded, opening on Friday evenings with a more ‘restaurant-style’ menu.
“Our chef has trained as a grill cook so we have leaned on his expertise and training to create the menu,” said Gemma, speaking to White Horse News.
“We serve homemade burger patties, steaks, pork tenderloin to mention just a few dishes. There are also vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available.”
Cosí is housed in an 18th century building on Maristow Street, offering diners a chance to step out of the modern day and step back in time.
“The building still has its original features such as original beams and exposed brickwork,” said Gemma. “I like to think that the building and the café lives up to its name and offers visitors a ‘Cosí’ experience, as well as a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. A warm welcome also awaits furry four-legged friends, as we are dog friendly too – so anyone passing by walking their dog are welcome to pop in for some refreshments.
“There’s nothing quite like it in Westbury – we can offer a café, tea room or restaurant experience – serving good hearty food and great Fairtrade coffee. Whilst we might not have the weather for it right now, in the summer months we have a ‘sun-trap’ garden, which has a real Mediterranean feel.”
“The feedback has been great. We have 5 out of 5 on Facebook and Trip Advisor and have received good strong reviews. We’ve also had positive feedback from our customers who are not online – it appears that word is spreading about us, which is good as we are located on a little side street.”
