BRATTON Primary School has organised plenty of festive events for pupils to enjoy this month – including a Nativity performance, a Christmas party, and a Christmas carol concert.
To kick off Christmas events, pupils decorated the school’s Christmas tree as part of their Christmas tree assembly. The school reports, “One of our favourite traditions is the Christmas tree assembly, as children all make individual decorations in class prior to a whole school tree decoration assembly.
“The children design and make a wide variety of decorations, with many materials, shapes and sizes, creating a very personal, child-led central feature in the hall. Each child then gets to hang their own individual decoration on the tree in the school hall, and the assembly culminates with the lights being turned on!”
Pupils came to school dressed in their pyjamas on Monday 11th December to listen to some Christmas stories read by headteacher, Mrs Williams, as children sipped on hot chocolate and ate Christmas cookies.
The school also held a Nativity performance which involved pupils from Key Stage One and which families and friends could attend.
The school has organised a special Christmas carol concert taking place at Edington Priory on Monday 18th December which will feature pupils from Key Stage Two.
“Our children have been busy learning hymns/ Christmas songs and choreography for the event, and we can’t wait to hear the results in the vaulted priory!” said the school. “The carol concert provides a wonderful annual event for many families, friends and locals to enjoy thanks to the volume of space available in the large priory.
“The children’s talented singing skills are always greatly appreciated by parents, with enthusiastic congratulations. It’s a joy to witness the maturity and enjoyment of the students during the carol concert, and everyone leaves the priory feeling very festive!”
“The school is also hosting a Christmas party for Tuesday 19th December. when children and staff can come into school in their party clothes for an afternoon full of games and fun.”
There will be a Christmas jumper day and Christmas lunch on Wednesday 20th December, where all staff and pupils will come together to enjoy a festive feast, freshly prepared by the kitchen team.
Santa will also visit the school on Wednesday 20th December. “The school purchases a present for every child, and this year Westbury Lions and Santa will be visiting the school to drop off the gifts.
“The school is also participating in the Bratton Village Baptist Church Advent Trail throughout December, as various venues create illuminated advent window displays, with families travelling around the village to locate and enjoy the experience. This year’s theme is ‘peace and joy’, and the main school window will be dressed to this theme.”
