The Memorial Theatre presents a truly musical celebration this September.
Royal Air Forces Association Concert Band – Saturday 6th September, 7.30pm: The first officially recognised Royal Air Forces Association (R.A.F.A) Concert Band was formed in 1998 as a unique partnership with the RAFA, who are the band’s sponsors, to help raise funds for the RAFA charities.
The band quickly established itself as a very popular and professional concert band. All the musicians are volunteers who enjoy making music together and they contribute a significant amount of time to their hobby much to the benefit of the RAFA and other charities. In its short history the band has raised thousands of pounds for RAFA as well as raising monies for other service and civilian charities.
This evening promises to be an entertaining musical journey from the Beatles to Williams and from classical to pop. Come along and enjoy a night of great music with this popular, well respected and entertaining band, along with their guests as they take you on a musical journey!
If you would like to find out more about the work that the RAFA Concert Band does, please contact Pete Dayman-Johns who is the honorary welfare officer for the Frome branch on 01373 465606 or 07974 702642.
At the end of the concert there will be a collection and all monies collected will be going to the RAFA Frome Branch which helps anyone who has served in the RAF and their families.
‘Beyond The Barricade’ – Friday 12th September, 7.30pm: Celebrating its 15th fantastic year with a sensational new show for 2014, the UK’s longest running musical theatre concert, ‘Beyond the Barricade’ re-creates original West End / Broadway musical hit songs with amazing authenticity, and features a cast of past principal performers from the West End production of ‘Les Miserables’ and the 25th Anniversary Concert at the 02 Arena.
This production will look back over the show’s amazing 15 years and include many of the musicals that have made it the UK’s leading concert of its kind, including ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Phantom Of The Opera’, ‘West Side Story’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘The Jersey Boys’ and many more hit musical productions, climaxing with a spectacular finale from, of course, ‘Les Miserables’!
