THE Penleigh and Oldfield Community Action Network (POP-CAN) hosted a number of events for children in the local area to get involved with last year, and have even more planned for 2022!
Sheila Kimmins, chair of group said, “During 2021, POP-CAN was able to hold two skateboarding events in Penleigh Park, both of which were attended by over 70 children and young people each day. The weather was kind to us, which enabled families to attend with a picnic lunch making it a day out for the whole family.
“During the school summer holidays nine sessions of dodgeball were held, with all ages joining in. It was great fun to see the children trying to aim the ball at one of their parents!
“Covid restrictions allowing, POP-CAN are planning more skateboard and dodgeball events in 2022, starting at Easter and with a pop-up fun day in July – more news to follow!
“We would like to thank all the children and young people who attended , without them the days would not have been a success.”
