Westbury player/manager Adam Collington kept his side in this tie with a series of excellent saves in the 2nd half before he was beaten by an 87th minute header.
This was an action-paced encounter where United gave as good as they got in the 1st half, as both teams created good chances on a very good afternoon.
Westbury came closest in the early stages through Mark Young and Craig Sheppard with shots from outside the penalty area. Then as the hosts got their passing together, Danny Urry and Nick Turpin were similarly off target.
Collington and his opposite number, Jake Wellesley-David, made fine saves before half time; the home keeper when Matthew Scott deflected Young’s effort towards goal and Collington when Urry tried his luck from 25 yards. After the break Andover stepped up a gear and put several periods of severe pressure on Westbury, so much so that the visitors didn’t get out of their own half for minutes on end! A number of corners were forced and from these, as well as further attacks, Collington denied Turpin, Alex Dockree, Michael Dixon and Ryan Alderton with top drawer goalkeeping.
Westbury did get out of their half on a few occasions and Nathan Hallett had an attempt saved by Wellesley-David. As play became increasingly frantic, several players from both sides were booked, but with extra time looming Alderton sent in a deep cross from the right wing which was met by a fine header by Ryan Inskip for the only goal of the match.
