EXPERTS from BBC1’s ‘Antiques Roadshow’ will be hosting a talk and valuation session at the Laverton next month as part of the Westbury Festival.
The hotly-anticipated ‘Antiques Uncovered’ will be a peek behind the scenes of Antiques Roadshow with the programme’s Lee Young, Lisa Lloyd and Marc Allum.
Marc will give a free talk explaining what goes on behind the scenes of the popular TV programme, and afterwards audience members will have the chance to have their antiques inspected by the experts for the price of £5 for the first item and £1 per extra piece.
Lee Young, who lives in Westbury, has a lifetime of experience in antiques and has been on the roadshow since 2011.
Lee told White Horse News, “These events are totally people-driven and I’m really looking forward to meeting local residents and seeing what they bring along!
“I think it’ll be good for people of all ages, whether someone’s sat on a lottery win or children just want to know about something old in their house or that a grandparent gave them. We’re happy to take a look at anything and it’ll be a bit of fun whatever we get.
“We always look forward to perhaps seeing something we haven’t seen before. Asian and Chinese antiques – which are my speciality – are a hot market right now.
“This will be my first time at the festival. My partner and I moved to Westbury last year and we are keen to get involved with the town. I’m particulary looking forward to taking my daughter to the Star Wars crafts workshop; it’s a good excuse for me to go!”
Antiques Uncovered will take place at the Laverton on Saturday 1st October from 10am. Entry for the talk is free. Find out more about the festival at www.wmafestival.co.uk
