Company for Christmas is an event for anyone that would be on their own on Christmas Day. a hot three-course meal is provided, along with entertainment and music.
Run by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, the event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. They say, “We have a wide range of guests and volunteers, all ages, backgrounds and situations. As well as individuals on their own, the event is also open to single parent families.”
The fire and rescue service will host the event at County Hall, in arrangement with Wiltshire Council.
Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, leader of Wiltshire Council said, “We’re delighted to be hosting this event again, as no-one should be alone on Christmas Day. We recognise that this event helps many people to come together to celebrate the day and enjoy a wonderful Christmas lunch.
“I would like to personally thank all volunteers that help in the run-up to the event and on the day. Also, apetito, who kindly donate all the meals, and Elior [Elior UK catering] for providing the dining facilities.”
Organisers say, “If you know someone who will be spending the day on their own please let them know about the event. Transport can be arranged for those who may need it (approximately a 10-mile radius of Trowbridge).
“In addition to this there will be a safeguarding team to support people with personal care if needed. The event is held in the atrium of County Hall and there is a changing places room with hoist and shower available.

“Doors open at 10am for volunteers, and guests are expected to arrive by 11.30am to enjoy the morning entertainment. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. After lunch, there will be more entertainment and a raffle, guests leave with their gift bags around 3pm.
