COMMUNITY projects around Westbury have benefitted from a huge £10,950 distributed in grants from the Westbury Area Board this month.
Following £7,624 in handouts in December, and £2,290 in October, this month saw the area board use up most of the remainder of its grants fund on a number of projects.
Area board led projects included a £3,000 contribution to the area’s replacement of stiles with kissing gates, and a further £3,000 towards the building of footpaths at the Mead Lakes.
There were also a number of applications seeking Community Area Grant Funding, including requests from Bratton History Society, West Wilts Model Society, Bratton Parish Council, Coulston and Erlestoke Cricket Club, and Bratton Community Orchard.
Westbury Area Board consists of local councillors, a Wiltshire Council cabinet member, and representatives from a number of groups and organisations such as the police force, elected young people, and housing associations. They host regular meetings to discuss local issues.
The next meeting will be on Thursday 9th April at the Jubilee Hall in Bratton. The meetings are open to the public, but if people have issues they wish to raise, they are advised to contact a local councillor in advance.
