TWO Westbury runners who represent Avon Valley runners have won their age categories at the Balf Half Marathon.
Fiona Price and Diane Hier crossed the line first in their age groups following the grueling 13.1 mile race which saw over 12,000 people take part.
Fiona crossed the line in the VF45 (veteran female over 45) category in a time of 1:26:58 which was a personal best ahead of her trip to Budapest later this month to compete in the Masters Half Marathon World Championships.
Diane ran an impressive time of 1:30:57 and took the VF50 (veteran female over 50) title by just 22 seconds, Diane was third place at the 10k mark but managed a quick run in to the finish. Together they were joined by Avon Valley runner Jackie “The Rocket” Rockliffe who registered a time of 1:29:19 to ensure Avon Valley won gold in the Female Vet team category.
Avon Valley Running Club has also claimed the Wiltshire Off Road title after race five of the WORRL at the Wiltshire Bustard, Salisbury Race Course. Despite City of Salisbury A&RC taking maximum points, it was not enough to stop AVR claiming the Wiltshire Off Road Title.
Avon Valley Runners is a club for all ages and abilities and welcomes newbies at their weekly beginners session at Trowbridge Rugby 7.00pm on Tuesdays.
