A Westbury charity shop is inviting people to discover new authors and adventures in advance of World Book Day.
The Barnardo’s store in Palomino Place, Westbury Leigh, is running special offers to coincide with the worldwide celebration which takes place in the UK next Thursday March 7th.
The team has restocked the shelves with hundreds of hardbacks and paperbacks, with all titles available at the bargain price of just £1 for three books.
Profits will support the charity’s work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people across the country.
Barnardo’s store associate Debbi Griffiths said, “Thanks to the generous support of the local community, we always have a good collection of pre-loved books – but we’ve saved some of our best titles to coincide with this major celebration. We’ve got lots of children’s books such as Enid Blyton’s ‘Famous Five’ and Michael Bond’s ‘Paddington’, and popular authors for adults including James Patterson, George RR Martin, Joanna Trollope, Danielle Steel, Robert Harris and Bernard Cornwell.
“There are also autobiographies from Miranda Hart, Davina McCall, Gordon Ramsay and Andrew Flintoff, among many others. There’s something for everyone!”
Other offers include two DVDs for just £1 (new goods excluded), and refurbished CDs and DVDs available at just £1.99 each, or three for £4.99.
Barnardo’s also has a wide range of gifts from retail partners including new handbags, hats, scarves, gloves, slippers, belts, umbrellas and greetings cards.
There is also a new range of children’s toys including card games, balloon modelling kits, construction kits, kaleidoscopes, magic tricks and marbles.
The Barnardo’s store is open Monday-Saturday from 9am-5pm and on Sundays from 10am-4pm. The team always welcome donations of good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, CDs, DVDs, bric-a-brac and accessories, as well as offers of help from potential volunteers. Call (01373) 822515.
