Barters Plant Centre is holding two open days this summer, giving you the choice of a wide variety of plants at good prices, with refreshments available, and all money going to charity.
This summer, the open days are on Friday 28th June and Saturday 29th June from 10am-4pm.
Barters are giving you the opportunity to select your own plants from their nursery at virtually trade price, with the added benefit of meeting the growers and seeing the environment in which they are grown.
There is a wide selection of perennials and shrubs as well as an end of season sale of bedding plants. All they ask is that you wear sturdy shoes or welly boots when visiting.
Legh Walker from Barters Plant Centre says, “Now is a great time to plant and the range available is as wide as ever – over 400 different varieties of shrubs and perennials (over 100 shrub varieties in larger sizes too) as well as ferns, grasses and climbers. The novelty is that instead of choosing from just four or five plants in a garden centre, on the nursery you will get to choose from possibly hundreds of the same plant.
“Some plant-mad customers have likened it to being let loose in a sweetie shop! Some customers aim to be first through the gate, afraid that the nursery might sell out – but with the number of plants available, there’s little chance of that happening! Perhaps most important is that just for two days, the plants are available to the public at virtually trade prices – which are significantly less than in the plant centre.”
Staff from both the plant centre and the nursery will be on hand to help and advise you.
During the open days, Barters will be selling refreshments with all proceeds going to the RUH Forever Friends Appeal.
They have raised thousands over the years for good causes such as Macmillan Cancer, The RUH Cancer Unit and Corsley Playing fields.
