Picture yourself relaxing with a picnic and a glass of wine , in beautiful garden surroundings, listening to some lively bluegrass music.
On Saturday August 3rd you may be able to do just that. The Friends of Victoria Garden in Westbury are pleased to present ‘Bluegrass in the Garden’ starring the wonderful purveyors of that foot tapping music The Bowlegged Skeeter.
The Friends say, “The band performed in Westbury last October at the sellout event Beans and Bluegrass, also organised by the Friends of Victoria Garden, and they have gained many fans here in Westbury. Since then, they have played in many venues, including the Tamworth Music Festival, Ansty Fest, and also the prestigious Battlefield Bluegrass Festival. Here is another chance to hear some more of that individual bluegrass sound with songs old and new, performed by a band of skilled musicians including Westbury resident and Friends of Victoria Garden member, Mick Franks on banjo.
“The event will take place on Saturday afternoon August 3rd between 4.00 and 7.00pm in Victoria Garden in the centre of Westbury near All Saints Church. There will be a licensed bar and a Pimm’s bar – a summer favourite with many of us! In the interval there will be a fun auction with an eclectic selection of interesting lots, some garden related. All are welcome to bid and you might go home with a bargain.
“Ticket holders are invited to bring a picnic, rugs and lawn chairs to the garden and make the most of an enjoyable afternoon’s entertainment.
“Tickets are priced at £8 per adult, and £4 for under 11 year olds and are available from Emma at EJ Crafts on Maristow Street, or via our email address fvgwestbury@yahoo.co.uk or call 07866 507170
“Tickets are limited and, as ever, funds go to the upkeep of lovely Victoria Garden which is maintained and cared for by the volunteer Friends of Victoria Garden.
“Hopefully the sun will shine and the sky will be blue for this Bluegrass event in August, but if the weather is to the contrary, the usual phrase applies ‘ if wet in the Parish Hall!’ Look out for the posters displayed round and about in Westbury with all the details. And as ever with these bluegrass events, the Friends of Victoria Garden encourage you to ‘ Come On Down, Y’all ‘ ! “
