A WESTBURY history group will next week be holding a talk on Bratton families and quilting in the 1900s.
The Westbury Area Family History Group’s talk on Thursday 26th January is entitled ‘Stitches in Time’.
The group’s Lynne Vercoe said, “A beautiful, embroidered patchwork quilt was unexpectedly returned to Bratton Baptist Church in 2014.
“It became the focus of research for Susanne Pickup, a local quilter and former librarian, who has pieced together the clues about its making and the people involved.
“Together with similar items from Trowbridge Museum, Susanne’s illustrated talk examines the life and times of some Bratton families from the 1850s and the place of patchwork and quilting in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.”
The history group meets in the foyer of the Methodist Church on Station Road at 7.15pm on the fourth Thursday of the month.
