BRATTON Community Brass Band is taking part in this year’s Proms in the Playground event organised by Brass Bands England.
Players from the band have been into several primary schools in the area to promote music and brass instrument playing as part of the event.
One of the Bratton Band members and Proms in the Playground organisers, Lydia Hills explained, “The children are so excited when we start playing! We are bringing cornets, trombones, horns, and other brass instruments for them to try. It’s great to see them getting a note out of them!”
The Proms in the Playground initiative is designed for brass bands to forge and strengthen relationships within their communities as well as promoting the importance of musical performance to young people.
New beginners’ group
Bratton Community Brass Band is starting a new beginners’ group this autumn. Organisers say, “We are inviting any of the children from the schools we have visited and that are interested in learning a brass instrument to join Bratton Brass Roots.” If you are interested and would like more information about Bratton Brass Roots, drop the band an email: brassroots@brattonsilverband.com
