WILTSHIRE Police report that a number of burglaries have recently taken place within Westbury and the surrounding area.
Alan Webb, sector inspector, Warminster, Westbury, Tisbury and Mere reported, “One of these burglaries recently occurred to a garage off a house at Clearwood View, Chapmanslade, Westbury, when unknown suspect(s) had attempted to gain entry into the garage by forcing the lock. The lock has been broken and no entry has been gained.
“Between 1700hrs on 17th February and 1245hrs on 19th February a burglary occurred to a shed at an address at Higher Coombe, Donhead St. Mary, Shaftesbury, when an unknown and unseen suspect has ripped and torn off a metal clasp on the front of a shed to force the door open. It is unknown if anything stolen or if an untidy search has been completed.
“Between 1800hrs on 9th February and 0930hrs on 20th February a burglary occurred to a shed of a house in Sutton Parva, Tytherington, when an unknown suspect has gained entry to a secure garden shed by forcing the lock. It is not known if anything has been stolen.
“There has also been reports of sheep worrying. Between 19th to 22nd February sheep have been worried by dogs in a field at Bishopstrow, Warminster. The field is near to a public footpath and the field has sheep in it. Over the past week there have been several incidents of where dogs have attacked sheep, including killing two, and worrying others that are in lamb causing one to miscarry.
“Dog owners – please ensure that you keep your dogs under control in the vicinity of animals in our rural areas. Farmers are within their rights to destroy dogs that are found worrying sheep. “
