WILTSHIRE Council is launching ‘The Big Pledge’ campaign again this year to encourage people to join in and get active, however this year it’s all about beating the clock!
The Big Pledge 2018 is different this year, making it even easier to take part in – no more confusing multiple sport challenges to choose from – just a timed challenge, undertake any sport or activity to complete your minutes on your way to collecting a total of 20 sports that were part of the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast!
The timed challenges are Beat the Clock Challenge – where you will need to complete 30 minutes of activity to collect one sport. To reach bronze you will need to collect 10 sports, silver 15 sports, and gold is 20 sports. There is Beat the Clock Plus Challenge where each sport is worth 150 minutes. There is Beat The Clock Team Challenge where each team member will need to complete 150 minutes of activity per week and finally Beat the Clock Schools challenge where you register your school for free, and undertake any sport or activity to complete your school’s timed challenge to collect 20 Commonwealth Games sports.
You can sign up before Monday 14th May, creating a username and password so you can record all of your times on the challenge record page. This will keep together all of your stats and progress through the challenge, how many sports you have collected, a total time complete and more.
2018 Winter Paralympic Gold medallist Jennifer Kehoe said, “I am delighted to be supporting this year’s Big Pledge Challenge. This is a fantastic event that everyone can join in and get active, regardless of age or ability. I know there is nothing better than setting yourself a goal and then achieving it! It is so simple to take part and I urge you to sign up now and get active, have fun and go for that gold!”
A full user guide to show you everything about how to record your time and activities etc. will be available to download from the webpage in the week before the challenge starts on 14 May. The system is very user friendly and the user guide should have everything you need to know, but if you still have questions please do not hesitate to contact big pledge@wiltshire. gov.uk and they will be able to resolve any issues you might have.
