FIRST Steps To Worship, a term-time service provided by All Saints’ Church Westbury for parents, carers, pre-school children and babies, recently held a celebration on Wednesday 10th May to mark the group’s 33rd birthday.
First Steps was first started by the Curate Reverend Dorothy Bellamy in 1990 to give carers and young children a chance to socialise as a way to reduce loneliness and connect with people in a similar situation.
The group say, “Thank you to Cards Plus for their special delivery of balloons and also to one of our members, Heidi, who baked a cake for everyone to enjoy as part of the celebrations.
“We have parents, grandparents and childminders bringing along their children along to each service. We have a short children’s Bible story followed by some singing with musical instruments accompanied by Peter on his guitar. Then it’s time for refreshments and the children have fun playing in the church.
“Jean and Peter Jane have been a great support to the group over the years helping with refreshments and musical accompaniment. New members to the group are always welcome!”
First Steps meets every Wednesday in the children’s corner of the church from 9.30am until 10.30am in term-time.
