TREKKING the Great Wall of China and cycling through the Wiltshire countryside are among the challenge events that Wiltshire Air Ambulance is running to raise money for its lifesaving service.
The charity has places available in the Wiltshire Big Wheel/100 cycle challenge on Sunday 25th September 2016 and for its overseas trek to the Great Wall of China from 21st to 30th September 2017.
The Wiltshire Big Wheel has a choice of routes from a 12 mile family route, 45 miles or 100 miles, all starting and finishing in Devizes. The Great Wall of China trek involves walking about 60 kms.
Rebecca de la Bedoyere, Senior Fundraising Manager at WAA, said, “We’re encouraging people to get outdoors and challenge themselves to help keep our lifesaving aircraft and crew flying. One of the best things about Wiltshire is that we have the most incredible landscape, perfect for hiking, cycling and just spending time in the open.
“Our fantastic cycling event, the Wiltshire Big Wheel/100, is a great way to explore our beautiful county. For those who want an adventure further afield, we’re looking for intrepid explorers to take on one of the wonders of the world, the Great Wall of China. Walking the Great Wall of China is on many people’s bucket lists and we are absolutely thrilled to offer this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“If you prefer running we have places available for the Bath Half Marathon, which is taking place on 12th March 2017. Or if you want to take in our beautiful county from the skies, we can even help you organise a sky dive. Whatever you do to challenge yourself, you’ll be supporting and making a real difference to our vital work.”
